Some Facebook "pet peeves"

I am on Facebook a lot and have developed some pet peeves once logged in (LOL). This isn't really serious but sometimes little things annoy you and I feel like telling you. ;-)

Here they are:

1) Why do people save you as a friend, or approve you as a friend, yet never reply to your messages?? Were they not aware that Facebook is a SOCIAL tool? Meaning a way to keep in contact? Maybe you should stop being nosey on my page and dismiss yourself. :-0

2) I'm tired tired tired of the thousands of Facebook Applications, and some people send SO MANY that I become "overwhelmed". I'm sick of Little Green Patches and surveys that look like a 3rd grader wrote the questions. Please stop.

3) I don't like when people I do not know send me random friend requests just because we maybe went to the same college or you worked for a company I used to work for 5 years after I left. Quit it. And don't request me just because you perused your friend's friend-list and liked what you saw. I'm just gonna hit "Ignore".

**OK that is the end of my rant. LOL Now I feel better!! :-)

Quote for the Day!!

From Rick Warren's Daily Devotional 3/19/2009:

You don't bring glory or pleasure to God by hiding your abilities or by trying to be someone else. You only bring him enjoyment by being you. Anytime you reject any part of yourself, you are rejecting God's wisdom and sovereignty in creating you. God says, "You have no right to argue with your Creator. You are merely a clay pot shaped by a potter. The clay doesn't ask, 'Why did you make me this way?'" (Isaiah 45:9 CEV).

Why women attract the men that they attract...

So I am at church this past Sunday, and we had a guest preacher, who was ON POINT, by the way. The scripture was from Job 42:12-14, and he went into how women need to know who they are in Christ. It is because so many of us do NOT that we lose ourselves or have no identity and then look to men/relationships to define us. I truly believe this to be true and it makes total sense. Sometimes we get into relationships with men and we feel so good about ourselves when things are going well, and when they compliment us, etc. But when things are bad or they treat us bad, we feel bad about ourselves, to the point where it affects our self-esteem.

Ladies: Please, know who you are in God's eyes. Figure out what it is that you want in life. Do/get things for yourself, and don't wait for any man to do it for you. Have something to bring to the table, just like you want a man who also has something to bring to the table. (Good) men are looking for the same thing. Don't ask for a man with good credit when yours is jacked up, for example. Get yourself right.

Another thing (my last point): Women who have been in one bad relationship after another often ask, "Why do I keep getting approached by (or finding) dogs!? All men are dogs!" Umm... No, not all men are dogs. But "dogs" look for the wounded [women] because they know they can get what they want from them. If you not only have your business straight, but you are ALSO EMOTIONALLY healthy, most "dogs" won't approcach. And even if they do, YOU, Miss Emotionally-Healthy-Woman-Who-Has-Her-Business-In-Order, YOU can discern between who is real and who is not and nip that in the bud if necessary. Be strong and stand up for yourself, don't settle just to be with someone!!!

My Dad... R.I.P. - Love You

Just was cleaning out my wallet and came across the pic I have of my dad in the back, of me and my dad... I was 1. It was 1979 and he was playing with me, his oldest girl. It'll be 7 years at the end of this month since he passed... We weren't always close but I miss my dad like h3ll, even still... It's hard not having a parent and then it makes me nervous b/c I'm always scared something will happen to my mom. Yes, I know it's life, we all live and then we have to leave this world... but it doesn't make the loss any easier. I hope he is looking down on me and seeing that I am doing fine, and that I love my life, the life that God gave me through Joanne and Cornell, Jr.

Love you dad, forever and ever...

Umm... "Long hair don't care!" ;-)

Before you read this, please know this isn't a "natural hair" spiel. However, I am watching America's Next Top Model and am really surprised by how this girl is CRYING - I mean BAWLING - about them cutting off her hair! Before I go further, I'm talking about people associating hair length with their looks, whether natural or not. Why do SOME women think they aren't beautiful if their hair isn't long? Umm... last time I checked you still have the same face. Isn't it your face/features/personality/spirit that makes one beautiful or not? It's funny, I used to be one of those people who associated her hair with her looks. I am so glad I no longer feel that way. Nothing wrong with long hair, but you should feel comfortable enough in yourself whether your hair is long or short, and rock it either way. I'm just sayin... Get over it, ladies!!!

I'm new to this - Here's what to expect :-)

VERY new to this blogging-thing... but love reading other people's and there are times I have some things to say and share. So, this is it :-) This will be pretty random. I will talk about anything from the superficial (makeup/hair/clothes) to the meaningful (social/economic issues, relationships with people, spirituality, etc.). I'd love for people to comment on my blogs as well and provide insight to whatever it's about, if it's that deep to discuss. LOL But let's keep it positive folks, I'm all about positivity and feed off of it. Negativity will be ignored.
That's all for now, I hope to post something within the next week!! Stay tuned...
